| Flashing Lights; Flashy Costumes
Costumes were always one of the most important parts of a dance to the Peters Township Dance Junior Varsity (JV) and Varsity teams. "Everything has to be flashy, cute, and fun when we are on stage," says Freshman Jessie F. It was, too, for both teams were decked out in sequins, leopard, and red. These were the colors that both teams coordinated to wear.
The JV team loved sequins this past year. Their costume included a gold sequins jacket, a red, half-sequined top, black stretchy pants with leopard pockets, and leopard shoes with red, sequins shoelaces. Also, on the inside of the jacket was a leopard heart with a red outline. "Every little detail has to be perfect when it comes to what you are dancing in, so that is why we had so many different elements to our costume," says Junior Sierra J. Also keeping up the theme of leopard, gold, and red, the Varsity team was very spirited. Their costume consisted of a black, leather, crop jacket, a gold sequins top, black leggings with a leopard back, and red and black sequins shoes. Including all of these wonderful clothing items, the girls wore a feather clip that had a red gem in the middle of the feathers. “We really wanted something different and fresh for our costume this year, so the feathers in our hair definitely made the outfit stand out,” says Senior Cassie P. All of these elements combined made everyone around love sparkles and animal prints. Even the parents and coaches were getting in on the theme! "Our assistant coach, Meghan, wore the same shirt as us except it was gold," recalls Sophomore Erika M. The parents had coordinated shirts, as well, to show their support for the girls. Well their support payed off, because both teams were in the top three in their division. |
